Course Overview
The
project management course is offered
under the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework in
accordance with TVET CDACC standards .The program is designed to equip trainees
with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values
required for effective performance in the business industry.
The
course is offered at level 5and 6 respectively
for TVET CDACC ,it consists of
competencies that an individual must achieve to manage projects. It entails
managing project inception phase, managing project planning and design,
managing project implementation, managing project monitoring and evaluation,
and managing project closure. The qualification consists of basic, common and
core competencies.
Career
Prospects
Upon
successful completion, graduates are competent to perform duties in the
following occupational areas:
Entry to Mid-Level: Project Assistant,
Project Coordinator, or Assistant Project Manager.
Senior-Level:
Project Manager, Program Manager, or Agile/Scrum Master.
Executive Leadership: Director of
Operations, Chief Operating Officer (COO), or Portfolio Manager.
Self-employment.-To be a
consultant
Entry
Requirements
(Level
6):
An individual entering this course should have
any of the following minimum requirements:
a) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum mean grade C-
(Minus)
b) Project Management or related Level 5 Certificate
c) Any other qualification Equivalent to that of Assistant Project manager
Level 5 as may be determined by TVETA.
Duration:
1½ – 2 years
(Level
5):
An individual entering this course should have
any of the following minimum requirements:
a. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain)
b. Related level 4 certificate
c.
Equivalent qualifications as may be determined by TVETA.
ASSESSMENT
AND EXAMINATION
The course shall be assessed formatively and
summatively:
a) During formative assessment all performance criteria shall be assessed
based on performance criteria weighting.
b) Number of formative assessments shall minimally be equal to the number
of elements in a unit of competency.
c) During summative assessment basic and common units may be integrated in
the core units or assessed as discrete units.
d) Theoretical and practical weight shall be 30:70.
e) Formative and summative assessments shall be weighted at 60% and 40%
respectively in the overall unit of learning score
f) For a candidate to be declared
competent in a unit of competency, the candidate must meet the following
conditions:
i) Obtained at least 40% in theory assessment in formative and summative
assessments.
ii) Obtained at least 60% in practical
assessment in formative and summative assessment where applicable.
iii) Obtained at least 50% in the weighted
results between formative assessment and summative assessment where the former
constitutes 60% and the latter 40% of the overall score.
TVET
CDACC Certificate
A candidate will be issued with a Certificate
of Competency upon demonstration of competence in a core Unit of Competency.
To be issued with Kenya National TVET
Certificate in Project Management Level 5 and level 6 respectively, the
candidate must demonstrate competence in all the Units of Competency as given
in the qualification pack.
A Statement of Attainment certificate may be
awarded upon demonstration of competence in certifiable element within a unit.
These certificates will be issued by TVET CDACC.
